For the 14th consecutive year, the educational and cultural institutions and embassies from 15 member countries of EUNIC Athens, in collaboration with the Representation of the European Commission in Athens, the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) and the Network for the Children’s Rights, under the auspices of the Region of Attica, invite you to a multilingual celebration which will take you on a journey from one European country to another, exploring the fascinating world of languages and dialects with a programme of events and activities for the whole family. Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in educational workshops for children, interact with the organisers and receive a range of gifts.

“Traditional Games Without Borders”
An interactive and experiential activity where participants will discover and play traditional games from different countries while learning their names in various languages. Through play, teamwork, and interaction, children will develop respect for diversity and appreciation for elements of intangible cultural heritage.

“Walking Across Cultures: An Interactive Floor Game”
Children will embark on a symbolic journey of discovery across different countries of the world through an interactive floor game. By solving riddles, completing challenges, and collecting clues from embassy and cultural organization booths, they will explore aspects of different cultures, languages, and traditions.

“The Suitcase Game: A Journey through Languages”
Each child will create and decorate their own paper suitcase with drawings and words from different languages. They will learn how the word “game” is translated into various languages and discover how play brings people together.

“The Language that Unites All People”
Through music and games that encourage the use of the body and creative expression, children will explore how communication can be achieved in a multilingual environment, proving that language does not have to be a barrier.

“The Wandering Library Speaks all Languages”
The Wandering Library, located in a specially designated area of the event, will offer families the opportunity to read books in different languages and enjoy a unique multilingual reading experience together.

About the European Day of Languages
The European Day of Languages was established in 2001 to support and promote Europe’s rich linguistic diversity and the development of language skills so as to enable its citizens to play their full part in democratic citizenship in Europe and preserve Europe’s multicultural identity.
