The Finnish Institute organizes together with the Greek Film Archive and the Finnish Film Foundation a week long film event with the title New Finnish Cinema festival here in Athens. The selection of films presents the younger generation of Finnish filmmakers who have a unique way of surprising with their works which are both experimental and transgress genre boundaries. The middle class and social changes in Finland have become a focus in many of the films, and so the movies delve into topics such as family structures, right-wing extremism, and the ongoing refugee crisis.
The films are shown at the The Greek Film Archive Foundation (Ταινιοθήκη της Ελλάδος) at Meg. Alexandrou 136, Athens 104 35.
