Koroneos Building

Rooms at the Koroneos Building are let for scholars and students and the house is administrated by the Finnish Institute at Athens. Professor Nikolaos G. Koroneos donated the building 1996 in memory of his father, and as a sign of his admiration for the Finnish nation. The building was originally designed by Mr. Koroneos himself, and it was inaugurated to its present use in February 1999, following a thorough renovation.

The Koroneos Building is located north of the city centre in the Gyzi district. From the Finnish Institute at Athens (Zitrou 16 in Makriyanni) the Koroneos Building can be best reached by bus line 230 or by metro. Bus line 230 calls at the busstops Hatzichristou and Misaraliotou streets near the Institute. The closest Metro station is Akropoli on Mitsaion Street. Near the Koroneos Building the closest bus stops of line 230 can be found in Ippokratous, Harilaou Trikoupi and Alexandras streets, and the closest Metro stations are Viktoria and Ambelokipi.

The six-storey building has 13 fully-furnished apartments of different sizes. There is also an artists’ studio flat, and an apartment rented by the Union of Finnish Writers. The house also provides a laundry, a seminar room and a lounge with a small library and a television. In addition, every room has free Wi-Fi.
